The heat of the boiler, the sound and motion
of the powerful steam engine and luxury of the vessel makes a sailing
on PS Monarch one of the most memorable experiences on the Isle
of Wight. At just 42' and with a license for just 12 passengers,
Monarch is reputed to be the world's smallest passenger carrying
Paddle Steamer!
'Monarch' has her permanent mooring at Island Harbour
which can be found on the main road between Newport and Ryde (A3054)
on Mill Lane. There you will find a Bistro, a site of special scientific
interest, cycle hire, the remains of one of the Solent's last paddle
steamers (PS Ryde) and of course-Monarch. You may prefer to park
at The Folly Inn, in Whippingham and use the riverside path to get
to the harbour after a drink and a meal at one of the Island's most
famous watering holes.
We offer public sailings at weekends, bank and school
holidays, between Newport and Cowes, please see Dates
and Prices for full information, including our pick up and drop
off points.
